Julius Shulman, M.D.

Eye Doctor Manhattan

Julius Shulman, M.D., founder of Eastside Eye Associates, has devoted his 45 years in ophthalmology to providing his patients with the highest level of eye care possible.

His practice is known as a problem solver, with the ability to call on the clinical acumen, diagnostic and surgical skills, and judgment of the many talented eye care specialists and subspecialists on his staff.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Shulman attended Brooklyn College and the State University of New York- Downstate Medical School.

Out of Brooklyn but happily still in New York, Dr. Shulman completed his ophthalmology residency in 1975 at Mount Sinai Hospital and then started what was to become one of the busiest and most well-recognized ophthalmology practices in New York City – Eastside Eye Associates.

Over the course of his nearly 45 years in practice, Dr. Shulman has had several major accomplishments, devoted patient care notwithstanding.

He pioneered the use of intraocular lenses during cataract surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital, as well as two forms of sterile techniques that are now standard practice during thousands of eye operations city-wide.

He has been on over 10 medical missions, including three to India and seven to Peru, volunteering his time to help bring sight to those blind and less fortunate.

Dr. Shulman is board-certified by The American Academy of Ophthalmology.
